Resort, private island, or a public beach
The three routes are genuinely different and the price is the least interesting difference between them.
A resort handles the setting and the stay in one place, which is the easiest thing to organise from abroad, and most of the resorts on this page have their own wedding contact on the government's register. A private island is the most private option and the most expensive one, and not only because of the room rate. The Civil Status Office charges SCR 4,000 for two foreigners marrying anywhere other than Mahe, Praslin or La Digue, against SCR 3,000 on the three main islands, and the officer's transport, accommodation and meals are charged on top. A public beach is the cheapest and often the most beautiful, and the trade is that it is public, so the day trippers who arrive on the afternoon ferry are part of the picture.
The question to ask any venue before you book
Which way does the ceremony beach face, and what is it like in my month. It sounds like a small thing and it decides more than the flowers do.
A beach facing south or south east is exposed from May to September when the trades are running, and one facing north or west is sheltered in exactly those months. The reverse applies from November to March. If a venue cannot answer that question about its own beach, that tells you something useful about how the day will be run.
